Light Reading recently announced the finalists for its 2016 Leading Lights awards program, now in its 12th year. This year they chose the top products, services, strategies, and companies across 27 communications industry categories (the most ever), including mobile, cable, telecom, wireless, cloud, SDN, NFV, and more.
Packet Design was shortlisted in the Most Innovative SDN Product Strategy (Vendor) category, awarded to the “technology vendor that has devised the most innovative software defined networking (SDN) product strategy during the past year.” We are honored that the judges viewed our strategy as one worthy of note, and we are in great company.
In a nutshell, our strategy is to enable SDN in IP/MPLS core networks by filling the management void between SDN controller(s) and SDN applications – one for intelligent management and orchestration. We have begun to realize this strategy with the launch of our SDN Analytics and Automation Platform and SDN Traffic Engineering app.
We’ll find out if we won during the Leading Lights Awards Dinner, taking place on May 23rd right here in Austin. This is the night before Light Reading’s Big Communications Event begins at the Austin Convention Center.
This year Light Reading had a record 300 entries. According to Editor-in-Chief Ray Le Maistre, the quality of entries this year is up “dramatically.” They chose 80 companies as finalists. See the full list here. Here’s more from Ray on the awards program:
